This is what gets me. For some reason people have to describe celebs who aren't actually conventionally attractive as beautiful, gorgeous, etc. It's like they can't actually admit to liking a person unless they are good looking. They have to somehow present them as beautiful in order to prove to others that the person they crush on is worthy? Like they'd be made fun of if they liked someone not pretty? Only pretty people can be worthy of being admired and loved? I read comments all the time like, Oh he or she is so hot I'd do them in a second(I don't care that they have raped, murdered, tortured, abused, whatever)

I can have a favorite character/celeb who is ugly or who isn't conventionally attractive and I don't have to pretend to myself or anyone else that they are. I can follow/like/admire them for other reasons.

To be fair, a good portion of those people probably mean beautiful to them, not conventionally attractive. And that's all eye of the beholder stuff.

Yeah but what if they do find the person attractive?

*gasp* You mean there isn't one single, objective standard of attractiveness that everyone falls onto one side or the other of? The hell, you say!

I'm seriously nominating you for winning FandomSecrets today, for this and a couple other threads.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Do you really have to find someone attractive to like them?

Of course not, but what if they do?

How do you know they're pretending?
