Don't most of the canons generally have them burning some sort of relatively clean energy source/ whatever the hell sparks are? In which case most exhaust would likely be vapor and dependent on the chemical makeup of the fuel and the method of burning, but various oils and fluids would probably have to be replaced every so often in order to avoid damage, like a car. I suppose that counts.

Sparks are more like a physically quantifiable soul.

What they eat is a liquid energy thing known as energon.

If anyone bothers to go into detail, they might need their systems cleaned out if they've been living on fossil fuels for a while, as it is often characterised as slowly clogging up their fuel lines if used for too long.
