To be fair, I read one page. But I got the feeling with HOUSE that he did it for art or fun and had a story to tell, pretentious claptrap or not. But with Only Revolutions, every word screamed "I'M MARK Z AND I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT HAVE A BOOK OF MY SHITTY POETRY WHERE THE CHARACTERS COME ACROSS AS MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRLS AND WHIMSICAL PETER PAN TYPES!!"

I loved the book, but I also agree with you. For even more delicious pretentiousness, you should listen to his sister Poe's companion album "Haunted," which is pretty good musically, but also ridiculously pretentious.

I love Poe. Not too big a fan of the Hello album but I liked Haunted a lot. I also enjoy her work with Conjure One.
