haha I know the feeling. Well, it was more like the fact that only three people including me in the fandom were interested in 63!fics for a specific pairing, except we all had way different interpretations in mind, so I was never truly happy.

Now fandom's dead so in the end it was better than nothing, I guess.

What really sucks is when you think about how maybe a really good author might have done a fill for you but then said "nm someone else filled it already."

Not sure if that's what your fandom is like, OP, but that's happened to me before and... ugh.

I also didn't intentionally lay it out so the word "gift" was coming out of a horse's mouth on a secret about feeling ungrateful.

I know this feeling oh so well. There's no nice way to tell someone to not fill something or to say 'thanks, no thanks' when it comes to free flics. It also sucks when a fandom BNF writes stories in a way that you despise because people will go on about how wonderful the stories are and in your head you're just like 'NOPE.'
