Anders/Fenris is one of those ships that thoroughly confuses me, but then again I rarely ship characters that don't respect or like each other even a little. (However, I never actually read fic about the two of them so I'm not sure what their dynamics are portrayed as, but I don't see how it could be anything but hatesex.)

Most Fenders has them gradually find some common ground and come respect each other. I think the entire appeal of the pairing is that they both have so much in common and can't see it.

Also, I don't agree that they don't respect each other. Their party banter by the end of the game sounds more like two people who are being willfully obtuse with each other and at times they sound like they're disagreeing just because that's what they do. Plus, Fenris is the only party member always willing to engage Anders in honest debate about his crusade, no matter how extreme Anders starts getting.
