Re: Pairings you thought would have been popular

I would've said Merlin/Gwaine, but that pairing is actually fairly popular. I've found a decent amount of good fic for it.

Merlin really did need the support of a friend in regards to his magic. Gaius was a father figure and more concerned with hiding Merlin than supporting him in that way (for good reason most of the time, but still). I mean, he was so desperate and lonely he was ready to run away with Freya and abandon his "destiny." That's sad as hell.

Now I want a fix-it fic rewrite fic where Lancelot gets to stay in Camelot, steming from season 1, OR a fix-it rewrite where Lancelot doesn't die (and gets to stay in Camelot). Just think of how different things could've been if Merlin had the support of someone who knew all of him?

Also, I think Gwaine knew about Merlin's magic and just didn't say anything. Gwaine was too shrewd not know, and, I think, too aware of how important it is to keep one's secrets to confront him on it.
