Probably, but just because they mean well doesn't mean that that overrides my feelings about the character, if you know what I mean? It's kinda like my mom; she likes to tease me because in contrast to her I'm a picky eater, but because of the words and comparisons she chooses, it only comes across as condescending most of the time. I know she doesn't want to insult me, but she does.

We often say things that are insulting to others and for me and others a comparison to Sheldon Cooper would fall into that category. The easiest way to avoid that would probably be a good conversations, but unfortunately that's often not easy. :/ I would love to say "don't take it to heart" but if it happens all the time you can't help but feel hurt and annoyed.
