Yeah, Mikado/Kida was my OTP when I was into Durarara!!, and I didn't like Shizaya at all. I was so surprised to find that so many people didn't care about them when they're both interesting characters and care about each other a lot.

Oh god, me too. It is a bit hard for me to explain why I dislike it so much, but I cannot stand it. I ship Shizuo with Tom instead.

I don't necessarily dislike the idea of Shizaya but I hate that a lot of the fic I've seen has Izaya as a weepy uke who is secretly hurt because Shizuo is a big meanie to him and like how could you fuck up one character's portrayal so severely? The only way I could see Izaya acting like that is if he was doing it to fuck with Shizuo for some reason.

ANYWAY, I also love Mikado/Kida and I wish it was bigger deal in fandom

Yes, EXACTLY!

Or a lot of people who have something terrible happen to Izaya and then Izaya would learn the ~error of his ways~ while Shizuo felt sorry for him. None of the fic really appealed to me.

I tried reading some of the Shizaya fic, but ugh. So bad. There was exactly one fic on the kink meme where I thought the characters weren't OOC beyond all redemption, but then the sequel ruined it.

Why didn't you like the pairing?

The main reason is that it's just kind of unshippable for me. I feel like you'd have to drastically change their personalities in some way for them to ever have romantic feelings for each other. I like Izaya, but he's an awful person, and the only way I could see him trying to hook up with Shizuo would be for manipulative reasons. Although Shizuo has many issues, I feel like he's an ultimately good person, so I can't really see him having anything to do with Izaya.

That makes enough sense. Izaya is such an asshole and Shizuo really, really cannot stand him so I can't see them being in any sort of relationship together. Even if Izaya did try to manipulate him into a relationship, I can't see Shizuo falling for it. Tbh, I think Izaya is incapable of romantic love or love in general so any pairing with him in it boggles my mind.

If they did get together then if would be o destructive and brutal, that it would end up with Shizuo being a complete and utter mess. I guess that's another reason why I don't like it, I'd hate for that to happen to Shizuo. I've got no problem with these kind of ships but this one just rubs me the wrong way.

I love both of them, just not together.

I shipped Shizuo with Celty so hard and then saw that I was like... the only one.

You're not the only one that ships them. All of their interactions in the anime were either adorable, funny, badass or a combination of them. It is an adorable pairing and it is a shame how it is so overlooked.

Yes! That's exactly it! They were one of the few pairings where I loved the characters separately,but they really brought out the best in each other. I just wanted to watch them doing things together. Anything.
And then Celty got turned into a moe girl and was with the fucking doctor /hiss

They really compliment each other really well, especially when they've teamed up to fight. They are just absolutely perfect together in every way that I can't believe that Celty is with that doctor instead. That pairing was a bit creepy.

Celty is and always has been extremely adorable. Where is my season two, Brain's Base? It sold like hotcakes so they've got no excuse for not making more.

Have you read the light novels? Are they worth looking into?

I loved every single thing that Celty and Shizuo did together. Everything T^T
And yeah, the doctor was hella creepy and I didn't get how after so long looking for her head, Celty just gave up on it because of ??? and she didn't even care that the doctor was in on stealing it in the first place. Weird.

I haven't read the light novels, mostly because some of the plot points in the anime annoyed me so much that I didn't have any interest in continuing. Which is a shame.

Yeah, that really, really bugged me. Celty is rather forgiving, but he was in on taking her head and god, it was so creepy how that they're together after that. Not to mention, iirc, he and his dead bith experimented on her or at the very least cut her open. What the actual fuck.

There really were some annoying plotlines. I didny care for Kida leaving, at all. Still wouldn't mind seeing another anime.

Yeah, after all the super skeevy experimentation and whatnot, it just got... swept under the carpet.

I don't really mind another season one way or another, though at this point there's a chance that I'd only really want to watch Shizuo and Celty (preferably together) doing stuff.

And to make things worse, he fucking enjoyed it! Just nope. I can't deal with this pairing because of that shit.

I'd watch it mostly for those moments too. There's a lot of characters in the series I like, but my faves and reasons for watching were those two.

There were other characters I was fond of, too, but Shizuo and Celty topped them by so much. If we do get a second season, I really hope they get at least one or two episodes devoted to them!

No, maybe we're long lost siblings tho. Lol. And if I iirc, he still fucking wants to experiment on her and she finds it creepy. So how can we go from that to all loveydovey bullshit which ignores t gat or plays it off as humor? All of my fucking nope! And the way fandom just gushes over them. I just... nope.

My theory is Brain's Base is saving more Durarara anime for when they're in trouble financially or something. Just give me more Celty/Shizuo please. For the love of all that is awesome, please Brain's Base! Orz.
