He's not a perfect writer by a long stretch. No writer is. I'm not excusing him but I tend to keep my opinion on him to his job, which I liked Sherlock, and I liked most of his Who. Neither were perfect. I like and dislike some of his work (pros: Eleven was wonderful, Series 5 was fantastic, cons: a lot of characters are sarcastic & fiery, sometimes the idea is better than the real excution, I like and disliked some of RTD's (pros: Ninth Doctor more diverse companions. Cons: getting rid of gallifrey, constantly bringing back Rose) aswell.

I won't be able to reply as it's late late late late late where I am but...

I'm fully expecting to get called a racist, sexist bitch and be told to "get a disease and die" because I don't hate the man. His writing isn't flaw free but not many writers are. As for casting, it's not only Moffat that decides. I don't care if the Doctor himself is a man, if he's white or if he's a woman or black or any other option. If the best actor is a white man then sure, if the best actor is a black man then sure. Personally, I know she's about seventy now but Maggie Smith would forever be my favourite.
