Weirdest misspelling you've ever made?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-12 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I was writing a thing about dystopian literature, and when I made a reference to The Hunger Games I somehow misspelled Katniss as Katstick. IDK how the fuck that happened.

LOL irl :D Katstick is the best name. Catstick.

I once wrote a very lofty speech with a ton of metaphors and allusions and then, while writing "time froze like a fly in a piece of amber", misspelt "fly" as "flea". Mood=ruined. God, I laughed so hard I couldn't rehearse it properly.

This isn't mine, but once I was reading an essay on Kate Chopin's Desiree's Baby, and the author called Armand Aubigny "a nutcase" while simultaneously misspelling his name as "Almond"...

Not mine, but we once received a Dover Books catalog that had "The Velveteen Rabbit" printed as "The Velveteen Rabbi" and we laughed about it for MONTHS. I think we clipped it and had it on the fridge for a while.

Aw, that one made me laugh out loud.

So, I don't even know if it counts as a mispelling as much as a momentary lapse in thought, but years ago I had a map excercise in geography class and for some reason I wrote "Sweden" in place of "South-America".

To this day, I have no recollection of ever writing it wrong nor any clue how such a mistake could even be possible, but good god was it funny when I finally noticed.

Only somewhat related, but I was watching The Hunger Games with my sister in-law and she misheard Katniss as "Kagniss". When I corrected her she was incredibly pissed off that the name wasn't actually Kagniss.

Doesn't beat Katstick though lol

When I proofread an essay I wrote in university, I found that instead of "synvinkel" ('point of view'), I'd written "slynvinkel" ('point of naughty girl'). Luckily, this was *before* anyone else read the essay ...
