I can't help but think geography has to play a huge, huge part in individual experiences. I often find myself wondering where these SJW's live that catcalls and other more aggressive, personal forms of sexism and misogyny (which they do sometimes talk about, at least the ones I follow) are an everyday pervasive problem rather than a highly uncommon incident.

Hell, depends on suburb, and age, and appearance. When I lived in the area full of old Italian & Turkish* dudes, age 20, with long hair and little hippie dresses, I got soooooooo much shit. Then I cut my hair off, wore trousers, and the harassment went down to almost nothing (excellent lesbian move). Moving suburbs and getting older and the only time I get shit is when it's kind of dark and they just see "female" and think I'm what they want.

* Went to Turkey later and received very little harassment, go figure. Not sure same could be said for Italy, my travelling friend said even her middle aged mum got groped.

Also, I know the more, uh, redneck, areas of my country are more overtly sexist. But there are PLENTY of "genteel" ways to be an utter fuckhead, and sometimes they are much more difficult to deal with.
