It just seems like something odd to get so incensed about, when it's a normal and significant part of human interaction for anyone who isn't ace/aromantic. Do you get annoyed when characters start developing friendships, too? Are characters' relationships with their families a waste of time?

I'm not saying you should be obligated to enjoy romance plots, but hating characters solely because they experience romantic attraction is a little disturbing.

i was about to ask this. the point of (good) romance should be the point of any other form of strictly emotional constructed relationship - character development.
