I can't believe people are jumping on you for not liking romance.

I mean, I don't hate it in everything, but there are so many unnecessary romance subplots in stories, that don't really add anything to the characters or plot, and end up taking away from it.

It's especially jarring in post-apocalyptic fiction - I just want to take the characters by the shoulders and shake them. Why are you worrying about whether he likes you? You should be more worried about POST-NUCLEAR WAR and SURVIVAL and the fact that you JUST GOT BITTEN BY A ZOMBIE, ffs.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is: Romance can be a great addition to a story, IF it's done well. And so many stories don't do it well at all.
