They're wonderful! Use them all the time.

Yep, MSWin has virtual sticky notes. So does OS X. A feature I've never used on any platform.

But I'll just threadjack this to complain that I've been on Windows 7 for over a year, and still can't find a text editor that doesn't suck, or look like it got beat with the ugly stick. (No, I don't want to get sucked into the pit of incompatibility and productivity hell that's emacs, or vim.)

What is your opinion on Notpad++? I've seen a lot of people touting it as the "best text editor 5evah omgggggggggg"

Not bad, but it's in the "beat with the ugly stick" category. I should probably bite the bullet and just buy Sublime Text or UltraEdit one of these days.

I just saw the demo for Sublime Text and I gotta say I'm impressed and enamored. $70 is a lot to pay but its license is less restrictive than UltraEdit's, hm.

It's not the most expensive software I've looked at. There were a few things in the 4-digit range I kinda-sorta wanted to get. The payout wouldn't have been worth it alas.

I think one of my problems with Notepad ++ was a bad version that broke spell check.

Oh they're much older than that! When I was a kid we had a Mac Performa (not 100% sure what model it is) that must have been running OS 7.something or maaaybe early 8 and it had Stickies. I inherited it third-hand in about 2003, ha ha.
