I was going to mention that! They all dressed in polyester pantsuits - imagine the chafing!

Oh yeah. There was sort of a rationale for the purple wigs on the moonbase (anti-static, I think, though you wonder then why the men never got them), but the pantsuits ... not so much. And that party in the one episode, it was so seventies, there really was no excuse.

Let us not mention the fishnet submarine uniforms ...

Those were hilarious. They're all standing around being ever-so-serious (Oh noes! An underwater alien base!) in *fishnet tops*. It's brilliant.

I agree with you on the plotlines though. OMG. No Star Trek happy endings here. The Square Triangle (if I've got the title correct - the one where the wife is planning on shooting her husband) was one that pretty well horrified me. I kept on thinking, "But they're the good guys!"

The Square Triangle (if I've got the title correct - the one where the wife is planning on shooting her husband) was one that pretty well horrified me.

And the one where Straker had to choose between letting the alien ship through or letting his son die. And then the FALLOUT from it over the rest of the series. The show was really from the 'global security means making horrible choices' end of Cold War television.

It's such a strange show to watch now. On the one hand, hilarious 70s costuming. On the other hand, horrifying 70s cynicism.

It's fantastic, though. I love it.
