Having a crap night

(Anonymous) 2014-01-15 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm feeling upset and lonely. And I'm having a lot of anxiety problems over an upcoming doctor's appointment and stupid health things. :(

So, anyway, anyone else having a bad night?

How do you help yourself to feel better when you're having a bad day?

Usually I try to drown myself in my fandoms to feel better, but I'm feeling a bit too sad to do that tonight.

Sorry to make such a depressing thread. D:

I am also having a rough night. And yeah, I do the 'drown myself in fandom' thing too but I don't really have the attention span for it tonight. *sigh*

Do you have a hobby you could distract yourself with? Drawing or knitting or coloring books or some kind of activity like that? I find that helpful sometimes.

Aww sorry, hope things get better. :c I have a lot of hobbies! I just need to find the motivation to actually work on one. But yeah your right sometimes those do help you feel better. Scribbling with crayons just for the heck of it sounds kind of fun, maybe I'll do that.

I had a bad day. Had to sub a kinder class from-

...

somewhere bad.

There were things I thought not possible. Now I know they are.

But to feel better? I talk to my friends. That always brightens my day.

I'm glad you're smiling.

Haaaaa, yeah. I've been spoiled with nice kinder classes before this.

Yeah, having a shit night, though I'm not sure how shared misery is ever better. I just feel bad for the other person. Anyway, hope you're better soon.

Well I suppose it helps if we all give each other hugs. :P

Ah sorry to hear you're feeling bad too.

I had an argument with a friend earlier. Things have settled down now but I'm still a little depressed.

I usually watch stuff that makes me happy. Or I do something that takes a lot of concentration so I'm forced to take my mind off of what's bothering me for a while until I've calmed down.

I hope your doctor's appointment goes well. I get anxious about them too.

Oh no. Fighting with friends is the worst. I'm sorry to hear that happened but at least things have settles down. :[

Ah thank you for the well wishes. Doctors and health things are the absolute worst.

Gaming, talking to friends, fandom... Pretty normal things. Sometimes food, though I'm calorie counting; I just make sure I don't overdo it.

Any kind of arts and crafts are fun and cheapish hobbies. I used to draw and mod podge but haven't in years.

I'm sorry you had a bad day anon. Hopefully you can find something to do that'll take your mind off things.

I think making yourself some fancy or healthy but super tasty food is a good idea for a bad day.

I think just coloring or doodling mindlessly can be relaxing, I think I might try to do that later.

And thank you for the well wishes.

I go and be angry* on tumblr so, uh, probably not the best. Then I go clean my house angrily, try to channel it productively.

Mostly I try to ride it out. It's impossible to be happy 24/7 so I just try to get through it without hurting anyone.

*I'm angry today but I do the same things when I'm upset/worried.

Well that sounds like a pretty good idea actually. Then when you're feeling good you have a nice clean house ha ha. I might have to try cleaning and doing chores when I'm in a bad mood.

Hope you get to feeling less angry soon.

and punctuating your cleaning with swears can be fun! I'll turn over whatever upsetting me for awhile then when done I'll /try/ to let it go.

Maybe do something pampering, like a bath with bubbles or a pillow fortress.

Fighting with my state's healthcare website. After finding my state's healthcare website, because the marketplace hotline is giving out the wrong address. But I have a brand new CD waiting for me, so I keep reminding myself that once it's all over I can sit down and art with a solid hour of new music.

Sorry to hear that nonnie. :(

For me watching cute animal videos helps sometimes, or cleaning my room(makes me feel productive and all that).

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear you're having a lousy night. Those are the worst. I try to do something wholly engrossing when I'm having a rough time - (sorry if this is inadvisable, but I like to...) set up my laptop near the tub (but safely AWAY from the tub), climb into a bubble bath, and watch a movie or a comedy show on Hulu or something. I also really, really like playing Rock Band when I'm feeling down, because it requires both concentration and physical movement. Anyway, I hope that your evening gets better and that your doctor's appointment goes well. Be excellent to yourself.
