I remember my biggest beef with anime fanfic (back when I still read a lot of it) was random gratuitous Japanese sprinkled everywhere.

That's odd, given that they make a point of mentioning that Asians are rare on Earth after the Titans' attacks, so why would people even be SPEAKING Japanese? Sheesh.

Oh, I wasn't referring to Attack on Titan, which I don't watch/read. I was referring to other anime fanfic I've read. But I'd bet there probably is Attack on Titan fanfic with gratuitous Japanese anyway.
