Art question

(Anonymous) 2014-01-15 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
If you attended an (amateur) art show and one of the pieces was covered in bits of text centered around a common theme (a literary fandom, birdwatching, race, whatever) would you bother googling any of the content? Would most people?

I'm thinking of entering with papier mache sculpture relating to the contest's theme and I've been considering chopping up some things I've written and using that instead of newsprint... but I'm a little nervous about the idea since I've always kept my personal and online identities totally separate. Am I being too paranoid here?

It depends if a particular line catches my interest. I wouldn't google them all. I dunno about other people, but I don't think most would go through the trouble.

I wouldn't and I doubt most people would, either.

Probably not. Most people would walk right by.

Nah. I doubt that I'd remember the words well enough to Google them even if I wanted to. And I don't think that anyone will search them while looking at the sculpture.

Probably not. It'd have to be a line/text that really catches my attention and makes me go "nift! I want more of that".

no, i don't think i would do that normally if i were the viewer. but i think the paranoia angle actually makes the artwork more interesting, which is a good thing!
