Re: Casting Thread

Dude suck my cock, my friends and I (all girls) all loved playing Tomb Raider when we were kids and we'd all pretend to be Lara 'cause she was awesome and smart and took no shit, and all of our self-images are just fine. Quit projecting.

so your argument is basically "Some of my best friends are girls and the didn't develop anorexia because of the media and the tomb raider games forcing them to believe the only value a woman can have is if she's skinny with big boobs so it's not a problem! Sexism is over everyone games don't demean of degrade girls any more because my friends survived!!"?

Sure sounds like that's what your saying.

Are also some of your best friends black so you can talk about racism?

Sounds like you're taking it a little personally is all. I want you to round up all the girls that literally became anorexic because of Lara Croft and then we'll talk.

Also I'm black as fuck so you can definitely suck my cock on that last bit.

Your argument seems to be "everybody who doesn't see the world with my SJW goggles will be mind-fucked by the media to take the worst message from this content WHY CAN'T YOU SEE"

I really don't think other anon and friends were the one, small group of girls on this planet who could like something that had problematic themes and enjoy that thing while taking more positive messages from it (girls aspiring to be "awesome and smart")

The whole you can enjoy and like problematic stuff thing only seems to apply when She's like something like that, but heaven forbid if you're not one and you like something problematic.

... what?

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2014-01-15 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
No really. That sentence is confusing. I suspect I disagree with it, but I honestly can't figure out what your point is. Like that as opposed to what?

Re: ... what?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-15 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
That should be applies to SJWs. Damn autocorrect.
insanenoodlyguy: (Default)

Well yeah

That's cause SJW bullshit isn't good things to pull from anything.

Which message seems better for young girls, the one that other anon and friends appeared to pull from it, which seemed to be

"Man, this is the kinda woman to be! Smart and awesome and not taking shit from anybody!"

Or

"This woman's got giant tits just to make guys horny! This character... I can't like this character! Argh I'm never playing Lara Croft again!"

One has a kid having fun. The other has them just getting mad and having one less thing to enjoy. Which, since the world is filled with legit problematic shit, means they will be by and large miserable in fandom.

Edit: I think I misunderstood you. Are you a different anon? Saying that "if your not a SJW, they'll disagree with you about being able to like something problematic"? If so, ignore that whole thing above as I do in fact agree with you.
