This. Plus for the most part, smug atheists can be avoided for the most part since most of them are being smug on the internet. Smug religious people are fucking everywhere though both offline and online.

I'd think it's a bit hard to avoid these ones since they're OPs parents, so I can see why they're irritated.

That vastly depends on where you live. I meet smug atheists on the internet and IRL more often than smug religious people anywhere.
