yr point would have a lot more validity if they hadn't explicitly invoked America's "history of genocide" (which is honestly 90% of what I was responding to, the other 10% mostly being the bizarre blanket assumptions).

listen, i'm not saying America is or was fantastic. but it seems to me incredibly hypocritical for a Brit to talk about how America's history means that it's backwards and evil, while managing to completely ignore the deep, totally fucked history of the British doing awful shit. it's completely ridiculous.

No Americanon, you are the hypocrites.

America does have a history of genocide, it doesn't matter where the person who states that fact is coming from. Anyone from any country could have said that and their own country would be bound to have massacres in their history, as most countries in the world do. Doesn't make their statement any less valid or hypocritical.

Also you called all Brits living today "evil murderers", so fuck you.

the statement was not "America has a history of genocide", the statement was "America has a history of genocide, which is (in part) the reason why it is backwards and not progressive, especially in comparison to Britain".

in other words, it's absolutely fucking relevant that Britain has a massive history of oppression and conquest and racism and exploitation. not just an incidental one, or a history of massacres - a history of running and benefiting from massive imperialist undertakings as a matter of set policy.
