He's not socially awkward, but he does seem to lack a lot of social tact

i'm pretty sure he knows exactly what he's doing and chooses to be a sassy annoying blunt bitch on purpose... he has enough tact to know when to be nice though, like when that soldier died.

This. I don't know where people get that he's socially awkward (and funnily enough a lot of fic do portray him this way). Levi lost a LOT of people he cared about. If anything Levi is a kind person under that tough exterior. It's that tough exterior that keeps him going and not crack after seeing some shit. Although I wonder how he is going to deal with fighting the Titans now knowing they were once regular people. He looked he was cracking a bit when Connie and Hange told him and Erwin.

Levi is odd, but his social cues are, for the most part, normal (I know fandom likes to think he has OCPD with his cleaning habits but I think his cleaning habits are just an outlet for all that stress to have something to have control over). He can be extremely blunt to the point of being rude but he's only like that when people are usually bullshitting around a point. And that he just have a pretty shitty (no pun intended) sense of humor.

Have +1000 points for awesomeness, good anon.

For fuck's sake Levi deserves an award for still being SANE after all the horrific shit he's seen even before the wall fell and the events of the series. Yeah, he's a bit of an asshole. Who WOULDN'T be?

In fact it's starting to make me warm up to him as a character that he's got a million reasons to be a utter bastard but is still a decent human being to a bunch of young teenagers who really need that support.
