Because if it's longer, it's automatically SO MUCH BETTER AND WELL WRITTEN.

I know I'd rather read some 25+ chapters that go no where or the author decides to quit or just sucks and I've wasted god knows how much time on their shitty "epic" fail.

Sounds like anon is bitter and jealous cuz her length isn't satisfying enough to her fandom.

Anyway, dude, me? None of the fandoms for anything I write for know I exist, which, honestly, is pretty much how I like it. I just find it a little ridiculous that the most attention is consistently paid to the fanworks that take the least effort.

And I don't... believe I said that something being longer makes it inherently better? Bad writing is bad writing, regardless of length. But even if a drabble is a beautifully-written single image or koan or poem or something like that, which certainly some of them are, you can't tell a fully-developed story in 100 words. Or often in 1000! Which may not be what you're here for, but it sure is what I am. So, you know, to each their own, except as the OP said, drabbles seem to be just about all anyone will write anymore.

...I think the more relevant question is, if the author sucks, why keep reading it that long?
