Little bit frightened by your secret, actually. We're not all awful, even the "Rosefen." And I thought part of what made this series amazing was the way there's 20+ years of history behind it, and a lot of it is deliciously cheesieness. Nine, Ten, Rose, and the TARDIS will always be my favorite things about it, but that doesn't mean I haven't completely fallen in love with, say, Jamie, for one, nor that I don't desperately want to see more earlier adventures. It's just a little harder for broke college kids to get their hands on.
Should I ask what "batchippers" are?
Also...Donna-bashing? Wasn't she meant to be a hilariously annoying character?

And so what if I haven't seen any of the old series yet? I can't download, and I can't afford to buy any DVDs. But I've done my reading, and I'm scouring libraries all over my state to find some of the Old Who stuff. Hell, I'm currently knitting a Four scarf so I can be properly prepared when I get my grubbing little paws on some Tom Baker-era arcs. I just avoid the Old fandom right now until I can go in a bit more prepared.
So being told to "shut the fuck up" really riles me. I'm so sorry that I'm trying to become a productive member of your fandom. Shall I just go away until I've seen more of the classic series? Because right now I'm feeling pretty damn inferior because I'm a young broke American. Sorry I ship. Sorry I like Jack. Sorry that the only Master I've seen was played by Jacobi and Simm. See you in a few months when I'm worthy to be in your fandom.
*deep breath* End of rant. Now, if you don't mind, I'm gonna go squee over the upcoming Children in Need special. (Davison, eeee! He's aged well, IMO.)

Oh my giddy aunt, you're me. I did the exact same thing. (Word of warning--really pay attention to the gauge, or you'll wind up with a 25-foot-long scarf that can only be worn with two+ people. ^_^;) I've only seen one Baker-era so far, but it was during finals, so I wasn't paying much attention.
I guess I've been lucky in that I haven't had any personal attacks when talking to older Whofen. But plenty of Rose attacks, spewing with unnecessary vitriol (I, for one, don't think Rose was unreasonably jealous, and in the most famous case of jealousy, she got over it very quickly). And I don't know, but the Rose!hate just makes me feel bad, and I can't really contest it just because I haven't seen enough interaction with other companions to judge, apparently.
(BTW, I don't mind Ten remembering Rose and mentioning her every now and again. I think she was incredibly unique and important. But maybe the moping can tone down a smidge. And really, I wish he'd mention other companions more, after what he learned with Sarah Jane).
Out of curiosity, can you not download because you can't find any, or because of a bad connection. Because I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy... *shifty glance*
Oh man, the special. Just a few days! I am so so so psyched! (And quite pleased that Davison has aged well. I haven't seen a whole arc of his yet, but Five was such a sweetheart. I just wish Colin Baker had aged as nicely so we could have a bit of an ego clash later.)

And I can find plenty of classic Who online. It's just that at home, we have pathetically slow internet that always crashes, and at university...well, my university is currently under close inspection for illegal downloading and a metric ton of students have been slapped with multi-thousand-dollar lawsuits, so I don't dare. But I've recently discovered a cache of youtube-like sites with eps on them, and that's allowed, so as soon as finals are over on Thursday, I'm having a multi-day Classic Who marathon! \o/ In fact, that's the only thing keeping me going this week. (Classic Who, Classic Who...)
As for the Rose!hate, hmm. I like her. Lots. She's my favorite companion from the new series, and I totally agree on the jealousy thing. She could've been extremely pissy (almost justifiably) about the whole thing, but she got over it. I like to think that's the Doctor's good influence on her. His moping, though, irritated me just for the reason you mentioned: he didn't act the same way for anyone else. When it comes right down to it, she was just a girl. An incredibly brave, undoubtedly stupid, remarkably clever girl. And sure, she sacrificed and learned and burned for him, but he's moping like a emotionally-drained sophomore; it's like, I almost feel he's doing her memory a disservice by stressing to other companions how very great Rose is all the time, because it's almost like the deification of Rose, and one of her chief charms was just how human she actually was. So I can understand why people (Martha included) would get fed up with hearing about her when they obviously have a slew of good qualities themselves. ...Does that make any sense?
THE SPECIAL, I KNOW. OMIGOD. I'm doing a freaking happy-dance in my chair right now. In fact, I had to run down the hall to my fellow RA's room and squee about it with her. I'm almost unreasonably excited. (Is it so very wrong that Davison's my kind of old man? He kinda reminds me of Derek Jacobi a bit, and that's a very positive thing! This makes me even more excited to see Five in action! And by the by, I don't understand this whole "only the new series has hot Doctors" thing, because young Davison? Yes, please!)
