Yes, The Southeastern Asian languages and the Northern African languages proved to be a pain in the neck. I had no problem with the European languages or the Northern Asian languages. Like Welsh sounds nothing like Spanish which sounds nothing like Russian. And Korean sounds nothing like Cantonese which sounds nothing like Japanese.

These languages I've been exposed to more through my neighbors, friends and pop culture. The other languages...not so much. I was able to pick a few out only because I looked up where the languages originated and thought, "Well, that sounds like it comes from Northern Africa."

I completely agree with you. I lucked out with Maori because "New Zealand" came up in the audio clip. A few of the other Pacific islander languages I was able to correctly guess was because I knew they contained a lot of repeated syllables and few consonants.

I wish there are a lot more less well known American, African and Asian language samples. I'd love to hear some Papaun languages, for example. I think this can be a fun way to introduce people to rarer languages, many of which are critically endangered or in decline.
