Good modding, man. Why bother doing work when you can just delete or freeze anything that might cause you to put in any actual effort!

"hey case, could you keep an eye on secret 11's thread? the secret to seems to be blatant wankbait and these kind of secrets never end well."
"Sigh yeah on second thought it's probably better to just not leave that up at all."
Which is actually pretty different. Your example seems to say that I deleted it because it was personally inconveniencing me, while what actually happened was that it really shouldn't have been posted in the first place since it was pointlessly wanky. I'll take the blame for the latter, i.e. accidentally overlooking that, but the former isn't true!

(Anonymous) 2014-01-16 04:26 am (UTC)(link)Also, someone asked you to put it up anyway, and you say "nope" how convenient that again you don't have to do jack shit.
OP turns up and tries to justify the secret hoping you'd put it up and you say "(it's) pointlessly wanky... (and I'm) Not going to debate this further" So you decide what counts as "pointlessly wanky" and shut down any possibility of a rebuttal that might justify it's posting?
Kinda smells like "I can't be bothered being a proper mod, so I'll just delete all the potential troublemakers" to me.

OP did not actually justify their secret. They said it did not break any of the rules, and I pointed out that it did! Then a different anon pointed out that the material was a secret of some form, and I pointed out that more than "it is a secret of some form" is necessary to be actually posted. As nobody was even trying to defend the secret's actual content or the issues it touched upon!
There wasn't anything more to be said about the technicalities of secret or not secret, which was irrelevant to why the secret was taken down.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-16 04:54 am (UTC)(link)And if someone disagrees with you, tough shit on them? They're not the godking of fandom secret and you don't answer to anyone?
I don't know which of the anons were different anons, but the way it read to me was as follows:
Anon: "It did not break any of the rules"
You: "Yes it did"
Anon: "But it's a secret of some form
You: "That doesn't matter I think it's pointlessly wanky and I don't want to talk about this any more"
You then freeze the thread so that no-one can argue with you're judgment.
You: "That doesn't matter I think it's pointlessly wanky"
Potential anon: "I think you're wrong because of XY or Z"
There was no reason to shut down the discussion at that point other than to make sure your judgment wasn't questioned and you wouldn't have to do any actual modding.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-16 05:01 am (UTC)(link)Anon: "It did not break any of the rules"
You: "Yes it did it was pointlessly wanky"
Different Anon: "But it's a secret of some form"
You: "That doesn't matter I think it's pointlessly wanky and I don't want to talk about this any more"
So yes, DA was missing the point spectacularly, but that does not change my problem with this i.e. there was no reason to shut down the thread other than you didn't want to deal with a rebuttal.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-16 05:55 am (UTC)(link)I apologize, case.

As I said, this has nothing to do with personal inconvenience! Yep, I made a decision, as the mod of this comm, that the secret was pointlessly wanky. As I also said, that's kind of my responsibility. I'm not sure how else to explain that to you. Modding doesn't always mean listening to every single person's opinion and weighing them equally; sometimes it needs you to make judgment calls and decisions, and I made one. When nobody can seem to agree, someone has to step in and decide and have that decision be final. That's what a mod is for!
You're free to disagree with me, but letting people argue over it would only have led to everybody jumping in and arguing whether that rebuttal was right or wrong and starting more wank in new threads (as was already happening in the threads above, and also in the thread itself that you're linking - you missed one anon in there already wankbaiting and calling people out!), when stopping the wank was the entirely point of deleting the thread!
tl;dr: my reason for freezing the threads was not specifically so my judgment wasn't questioned (that was not actually up for question to begin with, in a situation like this, as I've stated) but rather to prevent more wank from starting between other anons.
Besides, what would truly have been actually doing no modding would have been to be like "fuck it, I don't wanna deal with this shit, let it stay up and have everyone argue forever! I don't care! /off to play video games"
