Yeah, but it was pretty much implied she was an assassin who did a lot of bad things in the past, i.e. killed people and made enemies from it. She wasn't protecting herself from something relatively inane, she was protecting herself, her husband and her future child from someone who could easily give her name to people who most likely want her dead. Maybe you could call that desperate and amoral, but a former assassin with living enemies probably has a different point of view.

And she didn't say a word when John confronted her. She offered him the USB stick with her past history on it, everything about who she was and what she was running from, and left the choice up to him. He was the one who decided to put it aside and love her anyway. If he'd asked her to go, she would have. I don't see that as desperate or creepy at all.

Well given that she was considering shooting Sherlock again in the empty house to keep John from finding out, I'd say that is pretty much the definition of desperate and creepy.
