[Vatta's War - Trading in Danger]

I wanted to like those books, and there was nothing WRONG with them...but they just had a weird soulless vibe to me, a "Lets get on to point B, and then in x pages we'll move on to point C." I didn't understand WHY she was such a good military commander, she never gave me the impression of being super charismatic or anything.

BUT, my personal preferences on the series aside, I agree in general about SF book adaptations. I want to find the magician who can adapt the Chanur novels or the Rihannsu series. (which coincidentally ALSO have great female protagonists ^^)

Another vote for adaptation of the Rihannsu series here.

Oooooooh, Rihannsu! I just got that in my amazon order today. I've always wanted to read all of Duane's books about the Romulans and now I have them! :)

OP

I do agree that Moon papers over some of what could've expanded the series out to six books, but write to your strengths and all that. I think a TV series would probably actually help flesh out Kylara's superawesomeness more than in the books, because you have to show and not tell so the series doesn't just become a word for word repetition of the books.

Incidentally, the short story with Gerry and Stavros? It had me cracking up all the way through, because just when they had one thing fixed - whoops, here's another problem! :P
