This is almost a charming amount of stupid.

I don't understand, why the personal attack?

NAYRT

They're not calling Anon stupid (as far as I know), they're saying what they wrote is stupid.

Most dads these days are terrible dads? I can think of one out of my immediate circle of dads that I know, and that's my SIL's ex-husband.

Saying most dads these days are terrible is an extreme overexaggeration. You could easily say most moms these days are terrible. Or most teens these days are terrible.

Are there rotten apples in every bunch? Sure. But most? Probably not even close.

Isn't it though?

I'd be willing to bet the number of 'good dads' now is much higher than it was in an age where you could sell your daughters to someone. (Not that that doesn't still happen in places, and it's still bad, but statistically it probably happens a lot less now than in the past).

Plus there are a lot of terrible mothers too. There are always good parents and bad parents, unfortunately.

Not to mention that if they weren't so eager to leap into the thread and complain about how modern dads r teh suck, they might have actually picked up enough context to realize that the dad in question is a fictional character from the late 1700s.
