that's not the point. if someone you loved expressed desire in doing something life-threatening for them and you actively participated then it's still kind of weird and fucked up of you. she could have gotten really sick or died. just because she agreed to it doesn't mean it's any less dangerous and therefore kind of inconsiderate of her situation as a quarian. romance who you want but i agree with op that it would have been nice to make the sexual aspect of the romance opt-out if wanted. to a lot of us that would have been way more romantic than putting her life in danger

yeah and notice how mordin expressed doubts about the safety of their sexual activities. he gave medical advice but still recommended high caution. he knew it could have hurt her and he told you as much. what's your point?

Yeah, that's what I don't think I noticed the first time I played. The second time I was like: "Holy shit, really?" And again, it's weird that Mordin would be okay with this.

i have a feeling that was less in congruence with his typical personality and more in congruence with what the developers wanted to make available. kal'reegar received a tear in his suit on haestrom and suffered an infection as a result. that was just a tear - no mention of bleeding or excessive contamination which are both possible during sex (assuming quarian sex is at all similar to human sex, and since mordin expresses concern relating to tissue contact then i'm gonna assume that it is). mordin should have been a lot more reluctant, especially considering everybody's collective (no pun intended) situation regarding the collectors. so i like to think the developers were like "eh let's make him hesitant since that makes sense, but we still wanna let the dudes fuck her." i definitely think it's weird mordin was as okay with it as he was - he can be flippant and dismissive but with something like this? doubtful. regarding this instance here, i think it's just mediocre/bad writing for the sake of keeping options open.

OP:

I'm actually pretty sure you're right on all this. Games cost a lot of time and money, so the makers have to simplify it as much as possible.

I don't want to get all judgmental on people here—it's a game, for God's sake. But the presentation is really bothersome, especially since it's grossly OOC for the Paragon Shepard I played. Maybe they could have just had an alternate scene where she goes up to your quarters but doesn't take off her mask, indicating a safer encounter.

I'm pretty sure they mention Tali started taking pills and supplements all sorts of things to make her stronger for when sex came. Apparently most quarians don't.

Which is stupid for a field agent, but whatever.
