No, I'm suggesting the pressure to sleep with him, to "please her man" was so great that she ignored her personal safety. If it was a loving truly consenting relationship, he would have not gone through with something that could harm her. so it reads to me that he just only wanted the sex and she felt she had no choice but to give in even if it would be dangerous.

OP again:

Yeah, and it was weird that your only alternative was to flat-out refuse any kind of relationship. You don't need to do the deed in order to carry on a relationship. This might have been a relatively novel example of abstinence making the situation more romantic instead of less.
