Re: Just curious, but can I ask why, specifically?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-17 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)I do not like children or want any, and while I think being a good father is a good quality in general, it's not the sort of man compatible to me. I would never date a man who has (or can't live without having) kids. In fact, te reason why one of my best friends and I didn't become "more" is the kids issue.
In case of Ichabod, it's two-fold: obviously I'd be scared the child would show up sooner or later, which would lead to a relationship dynamic I don't want. I.e., a third party who is stranger to you, but has all the affections of your partner. Rightfully, a good father makes his kids come first. But I do not want a partner who makes someone else come first over me.
Even if the child would "stay dead", then you have the issue of being with a mourning father. They would have a deep sadness I could never understand, that would put me on a whole different level from them. I mean, I understand loss, but I'll never be ble to understand love for or loss of a child (which I imagine to be horrible, but can't connect to at all).
If that makes sense.
Re: Just curious, but can I ask why, specifically?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-18 03:58 am (UTC)(link)Well, thanks for explaining. In the context of a real relationship, that makes sense, and in the context of an imagined relationship, you realize it's irrational, but you can't help how you feel. I get it.
