Re: Favorite genre of film?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-18 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)That Lee Van Cleef description was hilarious, and so spot on. I love the story of Sergio Leone going to cast him in 'For A Few Dollars More'. When he got off the plane to meet Lee Van Cleef he watched him walk down the road towards him, and decided to hire him before he'd even met him just based off his bad-ass walk.
In case you haven't guessed, Westerns are my favourite genre, haha. I love them because they are a real genre-genre, if you get what i'm saying. You say "Western" and everyone has the same image in their heads, it's not thriller-with-a-bit-of-horror-but-then-it's-also-a-comedy-too. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course.
'The Big Gun Down' sounds interesting and awesome, I shall have to watch that soon. As for my favourite Western...anything with Clint Eastwood in it /cheating
I do have a laundry list of Westerns I need to watch though, so yeah, I don't have an answer really.
I shall stop my rambling now. Western-anon, awaaaayy! *rides into the sunset*
Re: Favorite genre of film?
I'm watching another Lee Van Cleef right now that's hysterical. Basically, he's a bandit who (along with some comedic sidekick cohorts) steals from this baby-face cutie European dude (he keeps telling everyone he's Europeeean). When the European cutie finds out he's been robbed (the money was pay from THE COMPANY for some angry miners), he rides away to desert and find Lee skulking around. Then they flirt and ride back to town together on the same horse for some reason. Lee saves the European cutie from being killed by angry miners and they flirt some more. There's a part where they break up and Lee leaves, but then he comes back. Then there's a part where Lee leaves again and he tells his cohorts he has to leave without saying goodbye because if he tried to say goodbye he wouldn't be able to leave. Then there's the part where an eviler bandit steals Lee's cutie European boyfriend's watch and Lee steals it back and is like "WHERE DID YOU GET THIS!?!" becuase he knows it's his boyfriend's watch and he's worried about him. I'm not even joking. These are things that actually happened. Oh, and Lee wants to marry this hot girl and he flirts with her awkwardly too. It's so cute.
