I don't quite understand the conclusion of this study, why would finding commonalities and a possible genetic explanation make it an orientation rather than a disease or disorder?

Not to mention - this is only ONE study, based on the opinions of ONE clinical psychologist.

I don't know if you read the entire article, but some of the descriptions of Dr. Cantor's work suggest his study is not entirely without merit. For one, he has been studying this for a decade. ALso, part of the study involves MRI scans. Lastly, researchers around the world are conducting studies similar to his.

This study, at least the MRI part of it, does not seem like the type that can be fudged over by poor statistical analysis. If his research is not legitimate, shouldn't researchers in other countries have found problems with it in the years he's been researching this?
