Yeah, I'm from NC. I've been around the southeast a little, been to DC once and Boston / Cape Cod once, Phoenix when I was 4 for a wedding, but I've never been to New York or anywhere west of Tennessee except that one trip.

Even within Europe I haven't been all that many places because I've almost always been visiting my friend. I've seen a fair bit of the south of France and most of the big tourist cities of Italy, but I still haven't even been to London. So overdue.

If I had a bunch of money I would go on one of those river cruises through Europe. They look so great.

I really didn't start truly traveling as much as I did until after college. It helped me that my three best friends from college all live far away. One moved to Seattle and then moved to Berkley, CA. The other moved to St. Louis and the last one stayed in SC. Then I convince them we should go elsewhere, roadtrip to Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Asheville, Baltimore, DC. I love planning 3-4 day weekend trips.

London was fun, other than super cloudy the days I was there.

I wanted to do one of those river cruises too but my friend and I went to talk to a travel agent about it and they were either out of our price range or filled with old people. We had no problem with the old people until she pointed out that we would also be on walking tours with them. So we found a comparable tour that did a bus tour and had the time of our lives. We did Oktoberfest in Munich and it's something I'll never forget

(sorry this got long)

Hmm, old people walking tours, yeah... Maybe by the time I can afford to do it they'll have become super popular among younger people! ...or it won't be til I'm old, lol.

I think I would travel a lot more if I didn't have problems sleeping. Many of the more affordable options (overnight buses, youth hostels) have been ruled out for me because of the anxiety. But I have hope for the future. I'd love to visit my friends from college.

I'm sure we would have fun on the tour but we are both mid-20s and the age range for the tours we looked at were 70ish, so a big gap.

Do you mind sharing a hotel room with someone? I only ask because a lot of tours will waive the single supplement if you share with someone. If that sounds okay, I can look up a bunch of tour companies for you. I've traveled with Topdeck and Trafalgar and would highly recommend them.

I would share with a friend, but I would also only travel with a friend (I'm not the most adventurous). I'll definitely make a note of those companies for when that kind of trip is a dot in the distance instead of the hope of a dot. Thanks :)

I did the first trip with Topdeck by myself. (www.topdeck.travel) and it stayed in hostels. It was something I always wanted to do and my friends are too poor/can't take time off work, so I wasn't going to let them hold me back.

The next trip I did with Trafalgar (trafalgar.com) and went with a friend because it was something he wanted to do too and we're travel buddies. We went to California for a week once and went to DC for a weekend once. Trafalgar offers two options and the costsaver option was great, it just stayed in simpler hotels. My friend, who isn't the best at saving, managed to save up enough money in one year to do the trip. So you never know.
