Let me be blunt.

Nobody will get it. You will put in subtlety and nuance and implication and symbolism, and it will be completely lost on the cloth-headed cretins who read everything. Even the things you thought were blindingly obvious, the jokes that reference what you thought was screamingly apparent, the symbols you thought were far too on-the-nose... nobody will get those.

Instead, they will filter everything through their own miserable, blinkered viewpoint. They will make everything about their own goddamned issues like their name was Charles fucking Kinbote. They will project their neuroses and preoccupations onto every line and write glowing reviews about how this story spoke to them personally.

Nobody will get it.

And you'll continue putting in the work and making it good anyway.
