BBC Sherlock series 3 was basically every fanfiction theory, wet dream and/or bad fanfic culled from a scrollthrough of Tumblr. For all of that, the fandom gave every part of it the thumbs-up, except the part where the fan club (named as such) started by Anderson, gets together and spins wild theories about how Sherlock survived; the girl in the picture's theory is a bad Sheriarty fanfic, complete with a close encounter of the kissy-face kind....And the problem the fans had with it was that the girl's theory was shot down and she was "mocked" or "mocking" them because she looks like a real human being.

Sounds to me like they hit a really big nerve...right in the insecurities.

She's shot down by the guy putting forth even more ridiculous theories, which I think is relevant. I didn't think she was putting it forth as serious-she says it's not any worse than his, but I think she was mocking him.

Me too. She seemed very sensible and the only person in that group that was at all sensible.
