I don't think I was surprised as much by Yolei/Ken as much as I was by Sora/Matt, but apparently in the Japanese version it's much more pronounced in season 2.

I didn't like Yolei/Ken as a pairing (thought Kari/Ken was much better, but then again, Kari should be with TK so...) but I guess it was alluded to before the ending. Sora/Matt was more pronounced in season 2 in the Japanese version? Really? I'd be curious to see how/where.

it's what I had heard, but as I've only watched the English (I got two episodes into the Japanese before I had to stop) I can't say for certain. STILL! TK/Kari!!

A person on Tumblr, Jippy-kandi, has an entire tag of entries where she shows how Sorato was portrayed in the Japanese version of Adventure and 02.

She also has interviews with Hiroyuki Kakudou, the creator and director of Adventure, that explains several things about the show.
