take out the epilogue and give Lupin and Tonks a proper death scene.

YESSSS. I'm still not over how throw-away the mention of their deaths were.

I'm not over how throw away their characters were in the end, period. I really wish JKR had either explained more of their story, or kept them in the background constantly like Bill and Fleur - who I love precisely because we're not hit over the head with how angsty and woobified they are.

I mean, I love Remus/Tonks, I shipped it pretty much the minute I read OoTP, and I didn't even mind them in HBP (I figured Tonks was headed for a meltdown(, but I do not love how JKR wrote them in the end.

Yup, I agree with you on this. I liked them in OoTP and HBP but in DH I didn't even know what was happening with them anymore.
