Awwww yesssss, Saiyuki! Saiyuki was one of my first and largest fandoms; I loved it. Uh, I actually adored Goku though, and although I felt a bit guilty for shipping Sanzo/Goku, I still went with it. (Just couldn't read smut of it.)

However I ship Gojyo/Hakkai harder than just about everything. Man, I miss the fanfic... And the manga... And even the questionable anime. I actually bought a ton of it. (As well as the manga.)

Is it still ongoing? I'd love to finish one day.

It is still onhoing iirc, but Minekura had cancer and had part of her jaw removed iirc so it goes on breaks and hiatuses a lot. At least it did the last time I checked up on it. Need to reread it and catch up.

Oh wow, poor Minekura. :( That's terrible. No wonder it isn't finished yet, though it's great she's still working on it.

It apparently wasn't cancer or a tumor, but a noncancerous growth on her upper jaw. It was around three years ago when it was removed. Apparently the series is on hiatus again. I'm not sure if it is due to ill health or what though. Hope she's okay.

There was a new chapter released last month and the good people over at Saiyuki Manga Share have already translated it. Things are starting to heat up!

There's still a fandom, although it's much smaller than it was in its heyday, and there is still fic being written, mostly for exchanges. Much of it also gets posted to Ao3.

Oh, so it isn't on hiatus again? Is it Saiyuki Ibun that is just on hiatus? I keep forgetting about Reload Blast.

Ibun is definitely on hiatus. Reload Blast is technically no longer on hiatus, but chapters come pretty sporadically due to Minekura's ongoing health issues. It is my understanding that last month's release was supposed to be a return to a more regular schedule of sorts, but she fell and broke her arm, so there's going to be more delays....

Damn, it sounds like Minekura has had some terrible terrible luck in the past couple years. How fucking awful.

I didn't realize there were so many ongoing series though, so that kind of confuses me. I really need to research this and get back into it. Thank you for the info nonny; I'm gonna try to (eventually) catch up.
