...seriously? he's not talking about pregnancy being a trial for her or for them together. he's acting like the BIGGEST problem he had with it was that his wife got unattractive and therefore it was a trial for HIM.

And if worry about your partner being "disfigured" is really your primary concern, I don't even know what to say. It certainly doesn't sound like it was worry for her sake.

It doesn't sound like he's talking about his wife AT ALL from the full quote. He was making more of a general statement about pregnancy being unappealing and children being sort of gross when they're small. I have no great love for Moffat, but I don't particularly disagree.
