Warmish. Unseasonably warm off and on for the past three weeks. It's also ridiculously dry. DNW any more brush fires.

Brush fires is one thing, but it's looking there's going to be a real drought. And that is not good at all.

Oh yeah, they're common here too. I heard on the news it's been over a month (Dec 19) since we got any rain. I've only had to pack for a potential evacuation once (2003, I think), but there was also a close one in 2008 near Oat Mountain (I was away in college).

Couldn't even escape 'em when I lived in Santa Barbara county-- we could see the Tea Fire in the distant from the bluff at the end of our block.

I recall that the Sydney fires of 2004 came so close to where my Dad and brothers were living that they were on alert for orders to move out. They lived just up the hill from one section of Lane Cove Park, one of the big national parks that is right in the middle of Sydney suburbia.
