Sounds like the opposite of the stereotypes of East European countries, like Poland or Romania, tbh. Guess ~European~ only means West Europe. I'm not saying that East Europeans can't be educated classy ladies and gentlemen, just that these aren't how the nation stereotypes. And people like to forget that East Europe is part of Europe as well.

I'm European and the problem with East Europe is that we don't have a history, so I tend to forget that they exist. With the rest of West Europe we tried to kill each other so many times, conquer each other, have our Kings and Queens marry each other, but with East Europe there's nothing. They are probably cool guys, but I don't feel like they are part of the family.

actually there have been shared histories (this coming from an eastern european) except they all have been more or less "forgotten" by the western scholars, because y'know Eastern Europe, who gives a shit. Plus the nineteenth century had a huge cultural significance on who is how remembered today and to many many Eastern European nations that was not a very good time to exist >__>

I'm German, and what the hell are you smoking no shared history???

(Anonymous) 2014-01-22 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wait what, no shared history?

Okay then.

....maybe if you're deep into the West you don't. But Germany? AUSTRIA?
