YES. Freaking epithets. If I never see another poorly-used one again it will be too soon.

The very very worst is when bad epithets appear in sex scenes -- and for some reason they constantly do.

I was reading a fic last night that was okay, but for some reason as soon as the sex started it was all "the older man" and "the shorter one" and "the younger man" and on and on. It got me wondering what writers like that would do with a pairing that was the same age and same height.

Hair colors, of course. And if they have the same hair, skin tones.

Hahah my guess is because so much porn is slash, and after a hundred uses of the word "he" some of the action might become somewhat unclear ;p

Het doesn't have this problem, though, so idk why it would show up there.
