-name-dropping items from real life for no reason e.g. "he took a sip of his Dr. Pepper."

-needing a fancy word for body parts and talking about them all the time

-character is nothing but a horny teenager

I was reading old Bleach fanfic and I never realized how much of the fics were this bad

THIS. If a story is supposedly supposed to have plot and all the characters are doing is fucking, I'm out of there.

I couldn't stop thinking about the angular bend in his arm. I felt like it was penetrating my spongy blood organ.

The first one: I agree. If somehow drinking a particular brand says something about the character, then damn well say so, but if the scene is not using the drink to say something about the character, you can just refer to it as "soda" or whichever culturally relevant name for carbonated drinks fits the setting.

I hate when someone uses a terribly awkward word for a body part when using the prosaic actual name for it will work just fine. I recall one fic that used "occulates" for eyes. I'd prefer to see the oft-hated "orbs" used instead of a terrible made-up, robotic-sounding word. Or of "orbs" is still too much trouble, how about just good old "eyes"?
