[Nobunaga the Fool]

Because this is something you care about and involves the re-writing of real characters. Of course you care! No shame in that. :) You're not writing death threats or something.

Joan of Arc? A passive damsel in distress? Does not compute.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
^this

how the hell does Joan of Arc ever rank as a passive damsel in distress? Obviously, someone didn't look at Joan's history

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. WTF is this bullshit?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I have issues with how it's presented too, but I'm carefully optimistic that it will get better, and so far, eps 2 and 3 have been, at least in regards to her.

Oh my god, not everyone who cares about shit like this is an SJW. You can complain about problematic stuff without being an SJW. You can pay attention to racism and sexism and homophobia in media without being an SJW.

It's okay to have issues with this series, OP. I've never heard of it before but it certainly sounds pretty shitty.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
No, you're good. This is SJW:

"what do you mean

joan of arc

wasnt passive

that white cis het scum literally let men tie her up and burn her alive hth"

Caring about horrible representations of characters, homophobia, and misogyny does not an SJW make, OP.

Nah, if I was in your place, I'd be pretty pissed too. Your issues with this series sound reasonable.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
SJW would be if you attack other people for daring to like the show.

It's ok to have issues with a show and talk about it. That doesn't make you an asshole bully.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
"SJW would be if you attack other people for daring to like the show" you mean what you people do daily? Fuck off, hypocrite bitch.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I will be honest, for me the worst thing about the show flaws is that it could have had some nice gay subtext/text instead of shoehorned straight love interest.

I thought it was pretty boring, albeit pretty and well animated.

But yeah the Joan of Arc thing really bugged me too. Not even just the passive damsel thing but... fanservice with Joan of Arc? How about no.

Yeah, the whole sexualized damsel in distress Joan of Arc thing really bothers me, too.

If you want some bizarre history bastardizations of these people that still do right by them, check out the PSP game Jeanne d'Arc (in which she's a magical girl and there are lion people) and the DS game Pokémon Conquest (in which Nobunaga has a shiny Rayquaza).
