Heaven forbid hurtful anon trolling be deleted. It's just like a violation of our rights man!

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
The problem is that what's hurtful to you may not be hurtful to me, and what's hurtful to me may seem like nothing to you. I didn't see the original comment, and maybe it was awful in all regards, but that doesn't mean somebody is horrible just because they worry about a heavy hand on deletions.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know what actually happened, but I'm going to pass judgment anyway." Good call.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
It's called replying to the broader spectrum of thought presented (ie frequency of deletions based on subjective reasoning) not that one particular comment was deleted.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
You mean you are shit stirring asshole that is bitter you don't get to an asspickle anymore?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
DA

I'm starting to see a similar trend here, myself; an anon usually pops up in the first comments thread, asking a thread to be frozen, which is fine, but this is the second time something has been deleted here.

I didn't see what was said, but this is the second time case has gone for removal versus freezing. I personally think freezing is a better solution, because then everyone can see clearly the stupidity of the comment in question. If it's gone, then no one really knows what happened, and might wonder.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Even if it's stupid, they deserved to express their opinion. And then teh rest of us will be free to tell them how stupid they are.

With the string of deletions, nobody ever will know what actually happened.]

ETA: I retract my statement. If they've all been this inane, then...yeah.

Sorry for saying anything. I know Case knows what he's doing.

I can't tell if you're For the deletions or Against the deletions

I was Against The Deletions but changed my stance to Let Case Do His Job.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
If the comment wasn't deleted, maybe then anon would have read it and have an opinion. But given the situation, you can't blame them.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I did see the original comment, and I promise you, nothing of value was lost.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
This. It was an assholish comment about Carrie Fisher's weight gain. Nothing of value was lost.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
It implied that suffering from untreated mental illness is better than being 'fat'.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
So, freeze it, and let the anon's stupidity stand for all to see and mock. Deleting is a step too far, IMO, regardless of the content. They are, after all, only words.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
So, it's better to leave up something hurtful and could hurt someone because you want to have fun?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
They're just words, dontcha know? Words have never hurt anyone ever. Not ever. /s

But seriously while this comm isn't a safe space I don't see why obviously intentional hurtful comments should stay. Like comments that just parrot racist bullshit or just kill yourself comments, etc.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
If someone kills themselves because an anonymous comment tell them to kill themselves over a disagreement, they deserve a Darwin award.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you're not helping your case any. In any case, that's irrelevant. Such comments aren't welcome here.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
There is nothing that will cause no harm to someone.

F!S is no-one's safe space, nor should it be. Isn't there a quote somewhere about trading freedom for security and how that is a bad idea.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I won't even care if the full thread wasn't deleted. Some actually good comments have been deleted lately (not this time though, as far as I saw) and in all honestly, this "let's make FS a safe space" thing is tiresome.

And hey, it's just a matter of time until something that is not an attempt of trolling gets deleted. So, freezing > deleting (unless there's a good reason).
