Today is a good day!

My tags on my car expired and through me being horribly forgetful and having no money, i didn't get them renewed for almost sixty days after the fact.

On the day i go to do this, of course! A cop is behind me. Of course! I get a ticket. Went to the court today to see if i could pay half now, half in a couple weeks (court date tomorrow). The lady there asks to see my registration, sees i got it all taken care of the same day...and rips my ticket in half. Says 'you're done'!

EEE! What a lovely, lovely person. I didn't have to scrounge seventy-five bucks. YAY YAY YAY. Also, i got to sleep in.

Finding out my math prof has an unorthodox view on homework that means waaaay less work for his students.

Also, deciding to drop a class that was giving me panic attacks.

Thank you! I wanted to give her a big hug but just did an arm-pat, instead. Plus, she was really tall, it would have been awkward.

I love it when things like that happen. No fines, no points because the right person saw the right paperwork and said, "You're done." I'm happy for you.

I was totally going to pay it, you know? I didn't try to get out of it, because i *had* put the notice in a stupid place and totally forgot about it. She was just so awesome to do that for me, i was seat-dancing in my car all the way home.

One of my cats (or you could say step-cats; technically the rabbits are mine and the cats are my girlfriend's, but I'm taking care of the cats while she's away and thus getting to know them better) is a timid little guy who, if presented with a can of wet food, will scarf down a few bites excitedly and then retreat lest other cats get pushy about wanting to eat it. So he's really skinny, and I've been trying to give him wet food more frequently and make sure he actually eats it... which means sitting there on the floor with him the entire time, petting him and telling him he's a good cat and holding the can so it doesn't slide away from him while he's shoving his nose around in there like he's starving.

So I did that this morning, and ever since, he's been sitting as close to me as he can, and purring loudly, and following me from room to room, and squeaking if I go somewhere he can't follow like the basement or bathroom. It's really adorable, and he's curled up in a sleepy ball behind me now and it's just SO CUTE.

Edit: Seriously, how cute is this little dork?

Also, I made more homemade ginger syrup and candied ginger (same recipe, just save both the water you boiled the ginger in and the ginger slices instead of discarding one or the other!) which means I can make my own strong, spicy, delicious ginger ale, and I also managed to remember to toss the ginger slices in sugar while they were still not quite dry, so the sugar actually stuck to them. Also planning on dipping some of them in dark chocolate.

(Not that today was a good day for me, because my health is sucking big time... but these things made it less of a HORRIBLE day.)

I got to go in work late today and my boss is just all whatever about everything, take work home, don't whatever, just make up the time at some point.

Yay! I was just posting something along these lines, I'm glad someone else thought of making a comment about positive stuff.

My day was good because I went to the swimming pool with my younger sister. I hadn't put on a swimsuit in two years, but today I was all like "fuck it, I'll strut my stuff all I want with no shame and haters to the left"; and had a great time swimming with the kid and playing with her in the water.

Yay! Man, now i want to go swimming! I haven't been in *way* too long.

And yes - strut your stuff! It sucks when people let haters keep them from doing fun things. Good on you!

I haven't gone swimming for at least a decade, due to body issues. I'm going on holiday with my family in a couple of weeks and I've decided that no matter what, I am going to go swimming this time.

Last night, at the eleventh hour, I found out that my application for a job with the City was approved and I'm through to the next stage.

Today, I found out that the next stage is a "general knowledge" test, presumably multiple-choice since I've been instructed to bring #2 pencils. I can do that in my sleep.

Such an amazing feeling!!

Today actually had a good smattering of bad news, though it hasn't exactly been horrible. The good things have been small, but are always worth appreciating. For example, I have the apartment to myself today, and have been playing a few new, fun games.

I am in the warm Southwest, well out of the way of the polar vortex that is freezing up most of the country! Suck it, Iowa! XD

Also, I bought some fancy chocolate and I am eating it right now. SO GOOD.

Livestream with some good friends who are, unfortunately, scattered to the four winds. We got to chat for a couple hours and it was lovely. :)

Well, yesterday was sunny and I spent some time outside just standing in the sunshine. Also I got some laundry done. :)
