Yes, that is true, his choice of words was nicer. His statement was not.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't really a mean statement. I mean, it's not an unreasonable position for the moderator of an Internet site to take. Somebody's got to make the decision.

DA

this. and the secret in question that started this whole mess a while ago was blatant wankbait so i don't see the problem with case deleting it. or case deleting nasty comments in general. like youtube tier racist comments.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but when that decision is beyond any discussion, beyond any form of appeal, beyond any question. That's a bit... shitty? unfair?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's beyond any discussion or question. We have plenty of discussions about it. We're discussing it right now.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Not when mod deleted my secret because according to him (it's a him, isn't it?) it was trying to cause unnecessary wank when it was not, it was my actual opinion. Whatever.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, no, now you're talking about something different than you were before. You made an appeal. There was a discussion and you did ask a question about what happened. And the result of the appeal didn't go your way. But, you know, that's life.

FWIW, I think, even if it wasn't your intention to cause wank, and it was your opinion, that is what ended up happening. Nothing was going to happen in that secret but wank.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't that the point of this place? To share controversial secrets, not to state socially accepted opinions like 'I think Martin Freeman is hot'.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think there's a difference between a controversial discussion and something that's nothing but shitflinging back and forth.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but there is no way this discussion will change anything. This discussion falls on deaf ears with case.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's never been how it's looked to me. It seems like Case is willing to listen, he just doesn't always agree. But I guess that's all I can say about it.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Have you ever seen a frozen thread get unfrozen? What about deleted comments, can they even be undeleted?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Except that this is a privately-run comm set up and administrated by one person, who puts in all this work to collect and post secrets and moderate discussions by himself. That means that he gets to set rules that make this place easier to manage. This is not a government organization in which you're entitled to due process. This is Case's virtual living room, and he gets to tell you not to shit on the furniture.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Fucking this.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Plus fucking one. This ain't a democracy, anons, but if anything, it's a lot "fairer" than most internet communities.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
That's how moderating works though. Besides, you had discussion about it. But in the end the mod has to make a decision and nobody else can change it. I'm sorry it didn't go your way, but it doesn't make case shitty or unfair to do his job.
