They can be fun depending on the community. Generally the older a game is, or the more mature it's players are, the better it's community will be.

For example, wow's community these days isn't too bad (now that it's aged), and gw2 has one of the best communities I've seen out there. At the same time Rift's community is one of the worst short of lol, and that makes it a game that just isn't worth playing, IMO.

Tl;dr: The community in an mmo makes our breaks the game for me.

Not sure I'm the best judge then, with games I tend to be not too community orientated? I mean, it's not possible I could meet all the time commitments and I'm just thinking something to walk around in circles in a few hours of the week.

That said a community could be fun and I'd probably leap into an FS one ;)
